Re-inventing Fitchburg’s Voice

Fitchburg's Voice Blog: Reinvented

I spent this week mostly working around the Fitchburg’s Voice blog.  I didn’t really plan on doing this because all I wanted to do was to complete a family website project that has been put aside for almost a month.  But I had to promote Fitchburg’s Voice.  So, I did.

First, I tried posting some comments in Jason’s blog and I was grateful the comments made it through.  His blog has a wide readership of Fitchburg residents, politicians and political fans. I prayed that my comments (although they weren’t posted in a particular busy topic) would still catch the interest of some of his readers, with a hope that they would stop by Fitchburg’s Voice.  I especially singled out ReallyRachel who’s been very consistent with her opinions and just recently decided to create her own blog.  I tried to invite her as well, but in a very casual way.

The next thing I did this week was sending out invitation letters to all elected officials.  But as of this time of writing, only Councilor Dean Tran was willing to join the blog.  I almost wonder why other officials wouldn’t be as interested as he is in gaining more avenues in communicating with their constituents.   I personally think that with me moderating the blog, Fitchburg’s Voice can give them a great advantage in being able to post their ideas and opinions without necessarily being harassed by the public.

Lastly, I added more features to the site such as having a forums page which was especially made available for non-contributors to post their views and a directory page strictly for local web listings.

With intelligent contributors such as Councilor Tran, Bruce Marien and Shaun Cormier, I’m positive that Fitchburg’s Voice will be picking up more traffic pretty soon.  Oh well, let’s just wait and see…
