I just got done posting my first entry at Worcester Telegram & Gazette yesterday when Mayor Dan Mylott announced that he is not running for re-election this fall. I saw the breaking news in Worcester Telegram & Gazette. I admit I was kind of surprised and started to wonder about how the people will react to this news.
I’m sure there are supporters who are disheartened with Mayor Mylott’s dropping out of the political scene and there are others who are jumping with joy. But as usual, there will always be people who’ll just shrug their shoulders and passively wait for the future to smack them in the face. I know because a lot of our registered voters in Fitchburg don’t exercise their right to vote all the time. Political lethargy spreads like an epidemic but it doesn’t accomplish a thing.
Okay, so Fitchburg will have a new mayor. Unfortunately, the city is not in great shape at the moment. We need new and positive means to help our economy. Will our candidates be up for this kind of challenge?
